Patrick and Catherine making films in New York

Clear Lake is this amazing little lake in North Eastern Indiana that I have been coming to since 1949. Our family shares The LakeSide Hotel which has been a private residence since 1981. Hope you enjoy the blog! It's a work in progress.

If you know of a Clear Lake Story, please let us know about it!

The LakeSide Hotel circa 1953 was THE PLACE to be!
Especially if you were 9 years old. That's me with Mom, Dad, and brothers Mark and K.C. The little girl is my cousin Mary Jos. Clear Lake brings us back every year. So keep coming back and look for photos, amazing stories and legends about the Lake and the Hotel!

The Lakeside Hotel as it stands today, lovingly preserved by the Nagle Family, and "homebase" for Clear Lake Stories.

Best of Summer

Would you rather be here?

Or here?

Seems like "summer", as we all remember it, is getting shorter and shorter. The kids go back to school earlier, and folks start thinking about "work" sooner. America's strangest Presidential election in a generation looms on the horizon. Gas prices, economic ups and downs, and other unforseeables might be weighing on us all a bit right now, but Clear Lake Stories can be there to remind us of the good carefree times we and those before us have had here at the Lake.

Hopefully in the months ahead, we'll be able to find the time to bring you specials like, "The Ghost in the Lakeside Hotel", "Saturday Night Fever at the Hazenhurst 1957", "Red Jacket, Kasota Island, and the Shaman from New York", and other tales that will make for more of a "read" than just a "look".

But for now here are some nostalgic oldies and fabulous new pictos that bring back memories of Clear Lake and the summer of '08!

Mark and Patrick Clear Lake Summer of 1953

Seems like just yesterday, doesn't it?

Well, it was "just yesterday" in a manner of speaking....

Right now, he's just outside your cottage door on his way to Mexico....

Martin babies are fully fed and ready to fly south....

The wild grapes are ripe for the picking...

...and the thistles are popping.

It's the end of wildflower season, but still...

There's an end of summer bloom...

And Amish baked goods are selling.

There's still plenty of time for a good float boat ride at sunset....

And on a double decker you can double your pleasure!

Or how about a sailor's twirl?

Or just "sitting on the dock of the bay".

Staying out of site, taking a good snooze.

Or doing baby play....

Watching the ski show...

A little supper at the yacht club...

Or walk around the Lake.

Take the crooked road...

Enjoy the old, but remember....

The stones have memories too!

Beaver cottage.

Beaver food.

Turtle love...

Waiting...

Birthday Party 1953 at the Hazenhurst.

Birthday Party 2008 at the Lakeside.

Hazenhurst kids 1958.

The old hotel...gone now but not forgotten!

Ready to go...

Mode of transport....

Mode of transport.

Hooray for the Red, White, and Blue!

So life at the Lake is beautiful!

Happening all around us, whether we see it or not....

Taz can tell...

Family 2008

So can we....

Good old Clear Lake....Always on our minds!

We are here in Hilton Head, on a rainy, windy day. Hence, our thoughts turned to dear Clear Lake. As usual, your photos have brought great memories to our hearts and minds. Let's all look forward to the summer of 2009
Great job of editing.
